2005 USC Trojans Season Schedule
The 2005 USC Trojans season schedule kicks off on September 3, as the boys in Cardinal and Gold look to win their third straight national title and continue their 22-game winning streak on the road against the Hawaii Rainbows. USC has played Hawaii five times and have never lost to the Rainbows, and they have won each of their last seven season openers, meaning that the quest for the 12th title in school history will likely get off to a good start. The Trojans open the season as the top-ranked team in the Associated Press poll, and coach Pete Carroll's squad looks loaded and ready for action. Last year's Heisman Trophy winner Matt Leinart is back at quarterback, along with 2004 finalist and 2005 favorite Reggie Bush at tailback. The game is expected to sell out but will be televised live on ESPN2.
2005 USC Trojans Season Schedule: Can They Be Beaten?
According to ESPN broadcaster Mark May, the only team that can beat USC this season is USC. Basically, May claims that only cockiness or overconfidence can keep the Trojans from winning a third straight national championship. However, there are several teams on the 2005 USC Trojans season schedule that might beg to differ with Mr. May's comments. First is California, the last team to beat the Trojans and the squad that very nearly ended their title run of a year ago. However, the Bears may have a much tougher time without running back J.J. Arrington and quarterback Aaron Rogers, both of whom now play on Sundays. Other potential danger spots for USC include Oregon, Arizona State and Fresno State, and of course rivalry games against Notre Dame and UCLA. One that that's certain in college football is that, when you're playing a rivalry game, you throw the records out the window because anything could happen.
